Rock Legends Benatar and Giraldo Pen Heartwarming Children's Book

In a surprising creative pivot, legendary rock duo Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo have co-authored a heartwarming children's book titled "My Grandma and Grandpa Rock!". The book, published just last month in September 2025, was inspired by conversations with their three grandchildren about the unique lifestyles of grandparents.

The idea for the book was sparked when the couple's oldest grandchild, Stevie, remarked that "everybody's grandma and grandpa have a tour bus". Benatar and Giraldo realized this was not the case and decided to create a book celebrating the diverse ways grandparents can "rock" - whether it's through their appearances, occupations, or daily activities.

The 37-page book, featuring illustrations by Tiffany Everett, aims to be inclusive and universal so that young readers can see themselves and their own grandparents reflected in the pages. Benatar and Giraldo also recorded an audio version of the book and are exploring further applications, such as a potential cartoon adaptation.

The writing process mirrored the couple's longtime songwriting approach, with Benatar and Giraldo exchanging ideas separately before coming together to collaborate. They also received valuable feedback from their grandchildren throughout the development of the book.

Despite their legendary status in the music industry, with 11 studio albums, 4 Grammy Awards, and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, Benatar and Giraldo are now focused on this new creative endeavor, which they see as a "whole other world" compared to their musical work. As they embark on a tour supporting Bryan Adams this fall, the couple remains open to the possibility of new music in the future, but for now, they are savoring this unexpected literary adventure.
