Summary
- Greg Daniels pitches new mockumentary "The Paper" as a follow-up to "The Office"
- Actor Oscar Nuñez reprises his "Office" role in the new show
- "The Paper" follows a struggling Toledo, Ohio newspaper trying to stay afloat

In September 2025, Greg Daniels, the creator of the hit comedy series "The Office," is preparing to launch a new mockumentary show called "The Paper." The series will follow the staff of a struggling Toledo, Ohio newspaper, the Toledo Truth Teller, as they try to keep the publication afloat under new corporate ownership.
Daniels has brought on former "Office" writer and actor Paul Lieberstein, as well as director Ken Kwapis, to help develop the new show. One familiar face returning is actor Oscar Nuñez, who will reprise his role as the private and dignified accountant Oscar Martinez. After Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch closes, Oscar is relocated to the Toledo newspaper by the parent company, Enervate.
The show's lead character is Ned Sampson, an idealistic former journalism student who has become a superstar salesman in Enervate's toilet paper division. Ned is now tasked with reviving the Toledo Truth Teller, despite having no experience in the news industry. He must contend with a staff of eccentric characters, including the cynical reporter Mare and the undermining wire copy editor Esmerelda.
Daniels and co-creator Michael Koman have crafted "The Paper" as a spiritual successor to "The Office," capturing the same mockumentary style and quirky workplace dynamics. However, they are careful to establish it as a distinct series, with a different tone and set of characters. The goal is to appeal to fans of "The Office" while also standing on its own.
