The Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple in Mangaluru is gearing up to host the Mangaluru Dasara festival from September 22 to October 2, 2025. The festival, which is being organized under the guidance of the temple's development architect and former Union minister B Janardhan Poojary, promises to be a grand celebration of spirituality, culture, and community.
The 11-day event will feature a variety of spiritual and cultural programmes, along with various competitions. The temple's treasurer, Padmaraj R Poojary, has revealed that the festival will include the installation of idols like Mahaganapati, Adishakti, Sharada Mata, and Navadurga, as well as rituals like Ganahoma and Chandika Yaga.
In addition to the spiritual aspects, the festival will also showcase the rich cultural heritage of the region. Performances by over 700-800 artists from 31 teams, including those from other states, will be a highlight of the event. The lineup includes a diverse range of art forms, such as Bharatanatyam, veena performances, folk arts, Harikatha, Talamaddale, Yakshagana, and magic shows. The festival will also feature cultural programmes by Alva's Institutions and SDM colleges.
Competitions with a total prize of Rs 1 lakh will be organized during the festival, including events like Kinnipili (tiger dance competition for children), devotional song contests, painting competitions, and Muddu Sharade contests. The festival will also honor female achievers who work selflessly and recognize organizations that serve the community.
