Madikeri Bans High-Decibel DJ Music for Dasara and Ganesha Festivals

As of August 26th, 2025, the Kodagu district administration has announced a complete ban on DJ music above the permitted decibel levels during the Madikeri Dasara festival. This ban will also apply to DJ music during the Ganesha festival in the region.
Kodagu District Commissioner Venkat Raja stated during a meeting with the Madikeri Dasara committee members and officials that the festivity should be observed in a ritualistic and orderly manner. He emphasized that noise pollution during the Vijayadashami procession, which is hosted at night, is strictly banned.
After the Bengaluru stampede incident, the state government has entrusted the responsibility of ensuring public safety and convenience to the district administration. Raja warned that if any inconvenience is caused, the officials will have to answer to the government.

The Kodagu Superintendent of Police, K Ramarajan, also explained the guidelines for the ten temple tableaus that are part of the Dasara celebrations. He stressed the importance of following rules regarding the weight, condition, and dimensions of the tableaus to avoid causing any trouble to the public.
The officials have urged the Dasara Committee and the Dasha Mantapa (Ten Tableau) Committees to comply with the government rules and court directions, and work closely with the district administration for a safe and organized Dasara celebration.
