Summary
- Shah Rukk Khan was initially considered for the lead role in Madharaasi
- Director AR Murugadoss narrated the protagonist's character to SRK, who liked it
- Murugadoss later decided to move on from the project, leading to Sivakarthikeyan's casting

In a surprising revelation, director AR Murugadoss has disclosed that Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan was once considered for the lead role in the upcoming action thriller Madharaasi. The film, which is set to hit theaters on September 5, 2025, now stars Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan in the lead.
Murugadoss explained that about 7-8 years ago, he had narrated the protagonist's character to SRK, who expressed interest in the project. However, the director himself decided to step away from the Bollywood adaptation at the time, citing a lengthy delay. "I felt the delay was very long. After that, I haven't communicated with him. I didn't follow up. Later, I moved on," Murugadoss said.
Ultimately, Murugadoss chose Sivakarthikeyan for the role, feeling the actor had the necessary physical flexibility to pull it off. "I felt Sivakarthikeyan had the proper flexibility in his body to do the role. I shaped the script in a way that fits Sivakarthikeyan," the director explained.
While the Madharaasi project did not materialize with SRK, it is now set to hit the silver screen in the Tamil film industry, directed by AR Murugadoss and starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead.
