On August 19, 2025, the makers of the upcoming Kannada film 'Kantara Chapter 1' have unveiled the first look of Bollywood actor Gulshan Devaiah as Kulashekara. Directed by Rishab Shetty, who also reprises his role as the central character, the film is a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster of the same name. This marks Devaiah's debut in Kannada cinema.
The poster features Devaiah in a regal avatar, adorned with long tresses, gold ornaments, and a crown, seated on a throne. Devaiah's casting was kept under wraps until now, just like Rukmini Vasanth's, and the reveal has added a fresh layer of intrigue to the narrative. The makers, Hombale Films, made the announcement on their social media with the captivating poster.
'Kantara Chapter 1' aims to expand on the themes of folklore, spirituality, and ancestral traditions that defined the original film, which was celebrated for its unique storytelling and cultural depth. The prequel now seeks to explore the origins of its mythological universe, with the technical team, including cinematographer Arvind S Kashyap and composer B Ajaneesh Loknath, remaining consistent from the first installment.
