In a significant move, the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (Intach) has initiated a comprehensive preservation effort for the rare artifacts and historic collections of the Dumraon royal family in Buxar, Bihar. The conservation work also includes the restoration of the intricate wall paintings in the region's prominent temples, such as the Bihari Ji Temple, Rajrajeshwari Temple, and Janakinath Temple.
Intach, recognized globally as a leading institution for heritage conservation, has deployed a team of experts from its Lucknow chapter to survey and document the royal family's invaluable treasures. The team has already begun the process of inspecting and cataloging the artifacts and wall paintings. Additionally, there are plans to establish a museum on the royal premises to showcase the family's historical weapons and other prized possessions.
The conservation initiative commenced on Monday, following a formal request by the Dumraon royal family to safeguard their cultural heritage. Shiv Kumar Mishra, the co-convener of Intach's Bihar state chapter, expressed pride in the royal family's proactive approach to preserving their invaluable legacy. With Intach's expertise and the support of the local community, this project aims to ensure the long-term protection and appreciation of Buxar's rich cultural heritage.
