Icelandic Talent Björn Hlynur Haraldsson Brings Supernatural Thriller 'Klara' to Life

In a recent development, Icelandic talent Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, known for his roles in "The Witcher" and "The Borgias," has teamed up with acclaimed writer Sjón to create the Icelandic romantic tragedy "Klara." The project, which was showcased at the Nordic Co-Production Market in Haugesund this week, is being produced by Iceland's leading talent hub Vesturport, in co-production with the U.K.'s Boom Films.

Set in the early 1940s, "Klara" follows a female medium with a unique connection to the supernatural who approaches a grieving husband and police detective in Reykjavik, promising him news from the afterlife. Haraldsson, who co-showran the Series Mania winning show "Blackport," says the story is inspired by an actual case in Iceland during that time period, exploring the "blurred line between faith and deception, especially when people are grieving and looking for meaning."

In addition to "Klara," Haraldsson is also preparing another commercially-oriented English-language project called "In a Lifetime," which he has written for acclaimed actress Kristin Scott Thomas. Vesturport, the talent collective co-founded by Haraldsson, has several other projects in the works, including the second season of "Blackport" and the musical "Frozen" to be staged in Copenhagen this year.
