The HollyShorts Film Festival, one of the world's leading platforms for short-form cinema, is gearing up for its 2023 edition, set to run from August 7-17. This year's festival will spotlight the best in short filmmaking, with winners in four key categories earning automatic Oscar qualification: best short film grand prize, best animated short, best live-action short, and best documentary short.
The festival has assembled an esteemed jury to adjudicate this year's selection, including acclaimed actors such as Celia Imrie (Bridget Jones's Diary, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey), and Jennifer Ehle (Pride and Prejudice). They will be joined by other notable names, including Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), The White Lotus star Lacy, and Twilight (2008) director Catherine Hardwicke.
With over 400 films set to screen from a record-breaking 7,000 submissions, the HollyShorts Film Festival promises to be a celebration of bold creativity and the power of short-form storytelling. The hybrid event will feature in-person screenings at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, as well as virtual screenings through the festival's official streaming platform, Bitpix TV. The festival will culminate in an awards gala on August 17, where the winners will be announced.
