In a move that will delight fans of legal thrillers, USA Network has revived John Grisham's acclaimed novel "The Rainmaker" as a new 10-part TV series. The show, which premiered on August 15, 2025, follows the story of Rudy Baylor, a young lawyer looking to prove his worth in the cutthroat world of the American courtroom.
With his prospects not looking bright, Baylor signs on with a small-time "ambulance chaser" named Jocelyn "Bruiser" Stone, working alongside her disheveled paralegal Deck. But when the trio uncovers a conspiracy connected to the mysterious death of their client's son, Baylor finds himself going up against not only the ferocious Leo F. Drummond, but also his law school ex-girlfriend Sarah.
Showrunner Michael Seitzman promises that the TV adaptation will delve deeper into the characters compared to the 1997 film version directed by Francis Ford Coppola. "For me, above all, it's the characters," Seitzman says. "They jumped off the page in John's book and were a joy to expand upon in our show."
With a talented cast and plenty of courtroom drama, "The Rainmaker" is shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of legal thrillers. The series airs weekly on USA Network in the US, with new episodes streaming the following day in Canada on Crave and in Australia on Stan.
