On Swift Horses, a new film set in the 1950s American West, tells a gripping story of love and desire. The film follows Muriel and Lee, a young couple trying to start anew after Lee's return from the Korean War. Their fragile sense of peace, however, does not last long when Lee's brother Julius arrives. Julius, a charming gambler, brings with him an unsettled past that disrupts the couple's lives.
From that point, emotions run deep, and a quiet but dangerous love triangle takes shape. Julius eventually departs, chasing his own desires, but Muriel is carried toward a new passion - racehorses - that she never expected to find. The film, directed by Daniel Minahan and based on Shannon Pufahl's novel, stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Will Poulter, and Jacob Elordi, and had its first showing at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year.
On Swift Horses will make its streaming debut on Netflix on August 23, 2025, as part of Sony's deal with the platform. The drama will remain available for only 18 months, offering audiences a chance to see the captivating performances of the lead cast once again.
