'Dhadak 2' Struggles, 'Son of Sardaar 2' Shines on Opening Day

This past Friday, cinema enthusiasts were treated to the release of two highly anticipated sequels - 'Dhadak 2' and 'Son of Sardaar 2.' The two films, coming from different genres, faced off at the box office, with 'Dhadak 2' starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, and 'Son of Sardaar 2' featuring Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, and Ravi Kisan.

While 'Dhadak 2' is an intense love story that delves into serious societal issues, 'Son of Sardaar 2' is being praised as a delightful desi comedy drama. The films were expected to face stiff competition from 'Saiyaara,' starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. However, the box office results show that 'Son of Sardaar 2' emerged as the clear winner on the opening day, earning over ₹6 crore.

In contrast, 'Dhadak 2' struggled to make a significant impact, minting only ₹3.35 crore on its first day. The movie, directed by Shazia Iqbal, enjoyed an overall occupancy of 22.85 percent, with the morning shows recording a slow start of 15.02 percent. As the day progressed, the numbers improved, with the night shows recording the highest occupancy at 32.07 percent.

Siddhant Chaturvedi, who plays the lead role in 'Dhadak 2,' has expressed his thoughts on the movie, stating that it is a "huge responsibility" and that the director's vision has been crucial in bringing the story to life.
