According to the latest update from DC Studios, the highly anticipated sequel to The Batman is being kept tightly under wraps. On August 4th, 2025, co-CEO James Gunn took to social media to quash rumors about the film's plot and cast.
Gunn responded to a post claiming that Batman's sidekick Robin will appear in The Batman Part II, writing, "Guys please stop believing this nonsense. I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about the Batman 2." He also shut down speculation that the fan-favorite villain Hush would be featured in the upcoming Matt Reeves-directed sequel, stating, "Everything you've heard is a total guess or made up."
The filmmaker, who serves as the co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios, further clarified that "No one in the world knows anything about the concept for the story except four people." This suggests that details about The Batman Part II are being closely guarded, with only a select few individuals privy to the film's plot.
Despite the secrecy, Warner Bros. has announced that production on The Batman Part II is set to begin in the spring of 2026, with the movie currently slated for an October 1st, 2027 release. This will mark the second installment in Reeves' standalone Batman universe, which was established with the 2022 film The Batman starring Robert Pattinson.
