The latest collaboration between acclaimed director Yorgos Lanthimos and actress Emma Stone is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 28, 2025. The film, titled "Bugonia," is based on the 2003 South Korean comedy "Save the Green Planet" and follows a conspiracy theorist beekeeper, played by Jesse Plemons, who kidnaps a powerful CEO, portrayed by Stone, believing she is an alien intent on destroying the world.
The just-released trailer for "Bugonia" showcases Lanthimos' signature style, with Stone delivering a powerful rendition of Chappell Roan's "Good Luck, Babe!" and undergoing a dramatic head-shaving scene. Plemons' character is depicted as wonderfully twitchy, with his partner in crime, played by Aidan Delbis, also featured in the trailer.
"Bugonia" is set to have a limited engagement starting on October 24, 2025, before expanding to a wider release on October 31. The film marks the latest collaboration between Lanthimos and Stone, who previously worked together on the 2024 anthology film "Kinds of Kindness" and the 2023 Oscar-winning "Poor Things."
