1 Aug
Summary
- "Bad Guys 2" earns $2.25M in Thursday previews
- Paramount reboots "The Naked Gun" with Liam Neeson
- "No Hard Feelings" opens with $15M weekend

The first weekend of August 2025 is off to an exciting start in the box office. DreamWorks Animation and Universal's "Bad Guys 2" has stolen the show, earning an impressive $2.25 million from Thursday previews. This is a significant improvement over the first "Bad Guys" film, which earned $1.15 million on its Thursday debut and went on to make $23.9 million in its opening weekend.
Elsewhere, Paramount is making a push to revive the big-screen comedy with its reboot of the 1980s classic "The Naked Gun." The Liam Neeson-Pamela Anderson-led film earned $1.6 million on its opening day. While comedy remakes can be a tricky proposition, Paramount is hoping this redo, directed by Akiva Schaffer and produced by Seth MacFarlane, can capture the magic of the original.
In another comedy-focused release, Sony's R-rated "No Hard Feelings," starring Jennifer Lawrence, earned $2.15 million from its Thursday previews. This turned into a $6.3 million Friday and a $15 million opening weekend, a solid start for the film.
