Summary
- Actress María Gabriela de Faría adopted a rescue dog named Jude at a Superman movie screening
- Director James Gunn's rescue dog Ozu inspired the creation of Krypto, the superhero dog in the film
- Rescue has always been important to de Faría, who has adopted all her pets

In the upcoming summer blockbuster Superman, Venezuelan actress María Gabriela de Faría plays the role of Lex Luthor's right-hand woman, Angela Spica, also known as the Engineer. However, off-screen, de Faría has become a real-life superhero by adopting a rescue dog at a special screening of the film.
The event, hosted in partnership with Best Friends Animal Society, featured several adoptable dogs as a nod to Krypto, the superhero dog who appears in the movie. Inspired by director James Gunn's own rescue pup, Ozu, Krypto plays a prominent role alongside Superman, portrayed by David Corenswet.
At the Miami screening, de Faría couldn't resist the charms of a 5-month-old Schnauzer mix named Jude, one of the adoptable dogs from Miami-Dade Animal Services. The actress, who had previously managed to resist adopting dogs at other events, says she "folded like a lawn chair" when she held Jude. The new dog mom has since brought Jude back to her home in Los Angeles, where the pup has already settled in and "runs the house."

Promoting pet adoption has been important to many involved in the making of Superman. Gunn himself has shared how his rescue dog Ozu inspired the creation of Krypto, and de Faría has revealed that all her pets, including her two cats and now Jude, are adopted. For the actress, rescue has always been close to her heart.
