On Instagram, Gellar revealed that Armstrong will be the leading lady for the Buffy reboot, which is set to debut on Hulu. Gellar expressed her confidence in Armstrong's capabilities, stating, "From the moment I saw Ryan's audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side. To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift."
The Buffy reboot will not involve original series creator Joss Whedon, who has faced numerous controversies since the release of 2017's Justice League. Armstrong, the daughter of Canadian actor Dean Armstrong, has already made a name for herself with roles in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Firestarter, and American Horror Story: Red Tide.
With the Buffy reboot set to debut on Hulu, the series will undoubtedly be a massive career boost for the 15-year-old Armstrong, who is getting her start much earlier than Gellar did when she was originally cast as Buffy in the 1990s.
