Zurich Film Fest: German Auteur Cinema Takes Center Stage

The Zurich Film Festival's Gala Premieres section will present 10 significant films, including the world premieres of two major German productions. Director Andreas Dresen's "Love, After All" and Doris Dörrie's "How Can I Help?" are set to debut. Festival CEO Christian Jungen emphasized the section's focus on "auteur cinema for a broader audience," noting the trust placed in the festival by these prominent German filmmakers.

The selection also features films generating Oscar buzz, such as "I Play Rocky," which explores the making of the iconic Sylvester Stallone film. Switzerland's most anticipated release, "111 - Echoes From Halifax," which delves into the Swissair Flight 111 crash, will also be shown. Jungen highlighted these films' ability to reflect on society with insight and humor.

Additional notable films include "Josephine," a drama about a child witnessing a crime, and "Company," a mystery with interwoven stories. The festival, running from September 24 to October 4, will reveal its full program on September 9.
