Summary
- Emmy nomination brings much-needed confidence to actor Zeeshan Ayyub.
- Series highlighted a different perspective of Kashmir beyond violence.
- Ayyub's project also won at Venice Film Festival recently.
Actor Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub has received a significant confidence boost following the International Emmy nomination for the series 'Real Kashmir Football Club'. Ayyub shared that he is still processing the news, which he described as a "huge honor" and an "extremely respectable thing." The team submitted the series for Emmy consideration without certainty of a nomination, focusing instead on creating the best possible show.
The series aimed to present a unique perspective on Kashmir, differing from common portrayals of violence, terrorism, or romance. Ayyub highlighted that the show sought to reveal a more universal aspect of the region and its people, hoping the story would resonate globally. Despite not reaching as wide an audience as anticipated, the positive feedback from viewers made the effort deeply worthwhile.
This Emmy recognition comes shortly after another success for Ayyub; his project 'Our Share of Sand' secured the Audience Choice Award at the Venice Film Festival. Ayyub described the recent period as overwhelming, with these two accolades arriving at a particularly special time for him. He also noted the growing international recognition for Indian films, citing recent successes at Cannes and Oscar shortlisting.
