Zane, Chapman Star in 1983 Florida Creature Feature

Oscar-winning sound designer Richard L. Anderson makes his directorial debut with 'Wekiwa,' a creature feature set in the summer of 1983. Billy Zane, Kevin Chapman, and C.S. Lee join Alex Trumble in the film, with principal photography commencing in early September in the Orlando area.

The narrative centers on a showman who has invested heavily in a resort on a Florida island with a three-hundred-year-old warning from the Seminole tribe. A documentary director, portrayed by Billy Zane, arrives with performers to shoot a commercial intended to save the resort. Their efforts are complicated by the arrival of a county marine biologist investigating issues with the local lagoon.

Producers Salomé Breziner and Scott Rosenfelt aim to deliver a film that evokes both excitement and a touch of fear, particularly regarding water. They highlighted Anderson's extensive experience in crafting immersive auditory experiences for audiences over his forty-year career. The ensemble cast also includes Oliver Wyman, Ty Neckar, Tyler Steelman, Xhaania Wright, and Caroline Jane West.
