Zaira Wasim's Bollywood Record Stands Unbroken for Over 2,900 Days

In 2016, Aamir Khan introduced one of the brightest young actors in Hindi cinema, Zaira Wasim, who delivered a standout performance in the film Dangal. Since then, Zaira Wasim has made a lasting impact on the industry, despite quitting Bollywood after just three films.

Zaira Wasim's biggest claim to fame is her starring role in the 2017 film Secret Superstar, which went on to become the highest-grossing Hindi film led by a female superstar at the worldwide box office. The film, directed by Advait Chandan, earned a staggering 902.92 crore in its lifetime, making it the seventh highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.

As of October 2025, Zaira Wasim's record for the highest-grossing female-led Hindi film has remained untouched for an impressive 2,922 days. The closest challenger was Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2, which earned 884.45 crore at the box office, but still fell short of Zaira's achievement.

Looking ahead, the only female superstar who could potentially dethrone Zaira Wasim is Alia Bhatt, who is set to headline the next installment of the Spy Universe, titled Alpha. If Alia's film manages to surpass the box office numbers of Secret Superstar, it would not only become the new record-holder but also the highest-grossing film in the Spy Universe. However, this remains a distant dream for now, and Zaira Wasim's reign at the top of the female-led Hindi film box office seems set to continue for the foreseeable future.
