Zac Efron Reimagines '80s Cult Classic Angel Heart

Zac Efron is teaming up with HBO and A24 for a new drama series based on William Hjortsberg's 1978 novel 'Fallen Angel.' Efron is attached to star and executive produce the project, with Zach Baylin writing and executive producing. The series will follow a struggling New York City paparazzi who takes on a case to find a missing woman, only to discover a potential cover-up by powerful elites with possible supernatural ties.

This adaptation marks a second screen version of the novel, following the 1987 cult film 'Angel Heart.' Jonathan van Tulleken, known for his work on 'Shogun,' is slated to direct multiple episodes and serve as an executive producer. The package, initially put together by Efron and A24, was brought to Baylin due to his success with 'Black Rabbit,' and later attracted van Tulleken before landing at HBO.
