Yungblud Powers Through Injury, Hits the Stage
17 Aug
Summary
- Yungblud injured his leg in a dirt bike accident.
- He performed despite the injury, drinking whiskey on stage.
- Past performances include playing from a wheelchair.

British musician Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, suffered a leg injury in a dirt bike accident just hours before his scheduled Aug. 9 concert at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. Addressing the crowd, the 29-year-old artist admitted he wouldn't be able to perform his usual energetic stage antics. However, he vowed to continue the show, notably taking sips from a bottle of Jack Daniel's whiskey.
Yungblud later posted on Instagram on Aug. 16, confirming his leg was "f---ed" but that he was still committed to performing in Portugal and Belgium the following week. He shared images of himself with crutches and his leg in a compression wrap. His South Dakota show marked the final date of the American leg of his Idols World Tour. In 2018, he famously played the Austin City Limits Music Festival in a wheelchair after fracturing his ankle.
This incident follows his "reluctant" withdrawal from the Cowboys Music Festival in Canada on July 12, where he cited a need to "work on myself and taking time off at home in the UK." Yungblud is expected to perform at the Vilar de Mouros Festival in Portugal on Aug. 18 and the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium on Aug. 21.
