Indie-rock duo youbet, formed by music teachers Micah Prussack and Nick Llobet, has announced the release of their self-titled debut album on May 1. The album represents a thrilling creative progression for the pair, who have dedicated years to teaching and performing.
Llobet, a guitarist and singer, and Prussack, the bassist, have found a strong musical synergy. Their teaching ethos emphasizes continuous improvement, a principle they've applied to their own music. The resulting album is rich with hummable melodies and distinctive hooks, demonstrating their evolved sound.
Llobet's own musical journey began at age 14 after a life-changing Metallica concert, leading to years of dedicated practice and eventual move to New York. Prussack, inspired by Green Day, also pursued music despite initial parental reservations, quitting a law firm job in 2021 to focus on her passion.
The duo met in 2022 and quickly bonded over their shared musical philosophy and complementary creative styles. They recorded the album over ten days in Maryland, co-produced by Katie Von Schleicher, pushing themselves to achieve new heights in their craft.
