Yograj Singh wanted Irish or English daughter-in-law

Former cricketer Yograj Singh is again facing scrutiny following the re-emergence of his past remarks concerning his son, Yuvraj Singh, and daughter-in-law, Hazel Keech. In a resurfaced interview, Yograj Singh disclosed that he had encouraged Yuvraj to marry someone from outside their community, expressing a preference for an "Irish or English girl." He stated that Hazel Keech, who married Yuvraj in 2016, is now considered a daughter rather than a daughter-in-law.

Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech welcomed their first child, Orion, in 2022 and their second child, Aura, in 2023. Yograj Singh also spoke about the significant time it took, over two years, to meet his grandson Orion due to scheduling conflicts. He acknowledged that his strict upbringing of Yuvraj might have contributed to the current distance within the family.
