The genre-bending thriller "Yaga" offers a contemporary take on the Baba Yaga myth, set against the backdrop of a mysterious disappearance. The series follows Detective Carson as she investigates the vanishing of Henry, a wealthy college student.
Central to the investigation is Katherine, a biology professor played by Carrie-Anne Moss, rumored to have inappropriate relationships with her students. The narrative explores themes of wealth, male entitlement, and female rage, all while deconstructing the legend of Baba Yaga.
"Yaga" features a cast including Clark Backo and Noah Reid, adapting Kat Sandler's own play. The show is noted for its eerie yet playful tone, blending suspense with moments of dark humor and violence. Despite its engaging atmosphere and strong performances, the series has been described as enjoyable for binge-watching but lacking lasting depth.
