Beloved X-Men Actors Embrace New Castings, Eager for Reboot

In a recent panel at New York Comic Con, X-Men actors James McAvoy and Ellen Page, who portrayed Professor Charles Xavier and Kitty Pryde respectively in the 20th Century Fox era of superhero movies, shared their thoughts on the upcoming reboot of the X-Men franchise within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had previously revealed that the X-Men characters will be recast following the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. This news has sparked much speculation among fans, with names like Colman Domingo and Bella Ramsey being suggested as potential new Charles Xavier and Kitty Pryde.

Both McAvoy and Page expressed enthusiasm for the idea of new actors taking on these iconic roles. McAvoy, in particular, was excited about the prospect of Colman Domingo portraying the telepathic founder of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. The actors acknowledged that the recasting will put a lot of pressure on the new performers, but they are eager to see how the characters will be reimagined in the MCU.

The X-Men characters are set to officially join the MCU after the 2019 Disney-Fox merger. Some of the previous X-Men actors have already made brief appearances in the MCU, such as Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier being brutally killed in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and Kelsey Grammer's Hank McCoy appearing in a post-credits scene for The Marvels.

Feige has described the upcoming X-Men reboot as a "youth-focused" project, hinting at a fresh perspective and tone for the iconic mutant team. The new film will explore the "inherently interesting and complex material" that has made the X-Men such a beloved and influential franchise over the years.
