Chinese martial arts star Xie Miao is slated to headline a new English-language action crime thriller currently in development by Los Angeles-based Stars Collective. This project aims to capture the raw, realistic fighting style seen in Xie's previous work, "The Furious," with the goal of solidifying his status as a global action lead.
Producers Peter Luo, Wayne Wei Jiang, and Wei Junzi are attached to the film, with Stars Collective co-CEO Nancy Xu also producing. Xu expressed excitement, stating Xie Miao's caliber is perfect for the demanding physical requirements of the movie. Jiang noted the film will blend classic martial arts elements with a global narrative approach.
The announcement was made during the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Contents & Film Market. Stars Collective is actively expanding its film slate, recently acquiring remake rights for "Thelma" and developing a feature inspired by "Fortunate Sons." The company, launched in 2020, has operations in China and Japan and boasts a diverse slate of over 60 properties. Its incubator program is supported by numerous industry veterans.
