A new collaboration between Ikea and Xbox is set to launch this fall, featuring a nine-piece gaming collection named Yxstaby. This range originated from a design meeting between the two companies at Milan Design Week in 2024. The Yxstaby collection aims to integrate gaming furniture harmoniously into home environments, drawing inspiration from Xbox's design language.
Key items include a versatile side table with integrated controller charging capabilities and a unique thumbstick stool. This stool was developed by redesigning the original Xbox controller's thumbstick, inspired by Ikea's classic Nilserik office stool. The design process involved extensive prototyping to ensure comfort and iconic form.
Further enhancing the collection are pieces like a toolbox for cable management, a gaming lounge chair with hidden storage, and a rollable TV stand. The Yxstaby range also features subtle Xbox Easter eggs, such as "Hej from Älmhult" hidden within the stool's assembly. Both companies expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, hinting at potential future collections.
