Ryan Coogler to Pilot New X-Files Series on Hulu
23 Feb
Summary
- Danielle Deadwyler cast as co-lead in X-Files revival.
- Ryan Coogler will write and direct the pilot episode.
- New X-Files centers on two different FBI agents in a special division.

Hulu's upcoming revival of The X-Files is moving forward with the casting of Danielle Deadwyler as one of the two co-leads. Acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Coogler, known for "Black Panther" and "Sinners," has been confirmed to write and direct the pilot episode for the series, which has officially received a greenlight.
The new iteration will center on "two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents" who form an unlikely partnership in a division dedicated to unexplained cases. This premise offers a slight departure from the original Fox series that premiered in 1993, which focused on Agent Dana Scully's assignment to debunk Agent Fox Mulder's paranormal investigations.
Chris Carter, the original showrunner, will serve as a non-writing executive producer, alongside Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler. The project's production by Onyx Collective and 20th Television occurs during a period of heightened public and governmental interest in aliens and UFOs. This surge is evidenced by congressional hearings on UAPs and statements from former presidents.
