A new six-part premium WWII drama, "Jackdaws" ("Le reseau corneille"), is being produced by TF1 and Netflix, based on Ken Follett's novel. Set in May 1944, days before the D-Day landings, the series follows Elisabeth "Betty" Clairet, portrayed by Laetitia Casta.
Clairet is tasked with forming a commando unit of five civilian women for a critical mission. They must infiltrate a heavily guarded château housing a key German communications hub and destroy it before the Allied invasion of Normandy.
With only a week to prepare, the women undertake the dangerous infiltration, crossing occupied territory and assuming false identities. They pose as cleaning staff to sabotage the underground communications network.
Filming for "Jackdaws" commenced in early May and is scheduled to conclude at the end of July. Production is taking place across Paris, the Île-de-France region, Val d'Oise, and Normandy, with a focus on authentic château locations and detailed period production design.
The ensemble cast includes Mathilde Seigner, Lina El Arabi, Michaël Youn, and Bérangère McNeese, among others. Jochen Hägele portrays the ruthless Nazi officer Dieter Frank.
The series is a new distribution partnership between TF1 and Netflix, following their previous collaboration on "Women at War." International sales are being managed by Fédération Studios.
