WWE Stars Invade Microdrama with New Series

WWE has partnered with microdrama platform ReelShort, releasing their inaugural collaboration, "Agent of Shadows." This new series, available on ReelShort and social media, centers on a secret agent tasked with protecting his daughter from a criminal organization. The project signifies the first output since the companies announced their alliance in July of this year.

According to Ben Houser, head of scripted and unscripted development for WWE, ReelShort represents the next wave of content consumption for younger generations, offering long-form narratives in accessible, bite-sized formats ideal for mobile devices. "Agent of Shadows" boasts a cast including microdrama actors Chase Mattson and Katherine Gibson, alongside WWE personalities like Drew McIntyre, Jacob Fatu, and Booker T.

Drew McIntyre takes on a significant role as Roscoe, a tech expert and right-hand man to the protagonist. This acting venture adds to McIntyre's recent filmography, which includes "The Killer's Game" and upcoming projects like the "Highlander" reboot. McIntyre expressed enthusiasm for the role, seeing it as an opportunity to showcase his acting range beyond his WWE career.

Chase Mattson, a veteran of the microdrama space, praised McIntyre's natural acting ability. He noted the genre's evolution from mobile phone productions to sophisticated cinema-quality microdramas, emphasizing the fast-paced, professional environment of current productions. ReelShort's head of talent, Sammie Hao, highlighted the shared dramatic and larger-than-life elements between WWE and microdrama, viewing the WWE partnership as a milestone for future brand collaborations.
