WoW Lets Players Build Floating Houses After Glitch
12 Dec, 2025
Summary
- Players discovered a way to make houses float using an invisible UI glitch.
- Blizzard decided to officially integrate the floating house feature.
- Undersides of houses are not fully modeled, requiring players to hide them.

World of Warcraft players have embraced an unintended housing feature that allows their in-game homes to float in the sky. This glitch, discovered shortly after the much-anticipated housing system's early access launch, quickly garnered positive attention from the player base.
Initially planning to patch the floating houses, Blizzard developers decided to officially incorporate the mechanic due to its popularity. Principal designer Jesse Kurlancheek and lead producer Kyle Hartline confirmed the pivot, citing the community's creative use of the glitch as the reason for its formal adoption.
While the floating house functionality is now official, Blizzard notes that the undersides of houses were not fully modeled or textured. Players utilizing this feature may need to strategically position other in-game elements to conceal these unfinished areas. Additionally, players might need to construct ramps or landing spots to ensure easy access to extremely high-floating homes.
