The World of Music, Arts and Dance (Womad) Festival is seeking a new venue licence to relocate to Neston Park in Corsham for its 2026 event. After more than forty years at Charlton Park, organizers are pursuing this new location, which co-founder Peter Gabriel described as a "warm and welcoming home." The application is currently under review by Wiltshire Council, with a public consultation period concluding soon.
The licence application details plans for an event accommodating up to 29,999 people. It covers the provision of live and recorded music, alcohol sales, and late-night refreshments until 4 AM. Performances will include plays, walkabout acts, and circus performers. The festival layout will feature various tented and open-air spaces, with no single main stage, alongside extensive parking and camping facilities.
Organizers emphasize Womad's status as a "boutique family-friendly" festival appealing to all ages. Following a hiatus in 2025, the event is returning as "truly independent." The 2026 festival is scheduled for July 23rd to 26th, with tickets having gone on sale in November of the previous year.
