Wolfgang Van Halen Unleashes Ferocious Hard Rock Album 'The End'

In November 2025, Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of iconic guitarist Eddie Van Halen, has released his third album 'The End' as the one-man band Mammoth. The album's ferocious hard rock sound was inspired by a panic attack Wolfgang experienced on a flight to Mexico last year, where he was set to open for Metallica at a high-altitude show.

Describing the harrowing incident, Wolfgang recounts how his vision started closing, he felt like he was going to throw up, and his body betrayed him in a way he had never experienced before. This feeling of everything ending is perfectly captured in the album's artwork by collage artist Moon Patrol.

Additionally, during the LA wildfires last year, Wolfgang prioritized protecting his father's priceless 'Frankenstrat' guitar, keeping it in his car for three weeks. This anxiety and stress over preserving his dad's legacy also bled into his lyrical writing for the album.

Despite the personal challenges, Wolfgang has found success with 'The End', which he says has a live, one-man-band feel that the team was striving for. The album also addresses a feud with former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth, which Wolfgang says Roth started without provocation. Furthermore, Wolfgang has lost 60 pounds over the past year and a half through a focus on healthy eating, though he's been dismayed by unsolicited comments about his appearance.
