Wizards Cast: Then and Now

Since the conclusion of Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place," its cast members have embarked on varied and successful careers. Selena Gomez, who played the lead Alex Russo, transitioned seamlessly into a multifaceted entertainment career. She achieved multiple top 40 hits and Grammy nominations in music, starred in films, and earned acclaim for her role in "Only Murders in the Building." Gomez also executive produced "13 Reasons Why" and hosted "Selena + Chef."

She recently returned for "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place," expressing gratitude for the show that launched her career. Gomez also recently married music producer Benny Blanco in September 2025.

David Henrie, who portrayed Justin Russo, has also remained active in acting and directing. He starred in "How I Met Your Mother" and released his directorial debut, "This Is the Year," produced by Gomez. Henrie reprised his role in the "Wizards" sequel and is married with four children.

Jake T. Austin, who played Max Russo, lent his voice to animated films like "Rio" and "The Emoji Movie" and starred in the drama series "The Fosters." He did not appear in the "Wizards" sequel, with his character now the owner of a successful sandwich franchise.

Jennifer Stone, Harper Finkle, made a significant career change, becoming a registered nurse and an advocate for type 1 diabetes. She also co-wrote an independent film and reprised her role in "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place's" finale. Stone also co-hosted the "Wizards of Waverly Pod" with David DeLuise.

Maria Canals-Barrera, who played matriarch Theresa Russo, has continued with voice-over work and guest roles on popular shows. David DeLuise, as patriarch Jerry Russo, has amassed numerous guest appearances on acclaimed series. Both Canals-Barrera and DeLuise reprised their roles in "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place."
