Gamescom 2026 featured a major surprise for fans of The Witcher franchise. Developer CD Projekt Red announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will be released on September 29. This updated version will be a free upgrade for all players who own the game on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
In addition to the remastered game, CD Projekt Red is also making the two substantial expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, completely free for all owners starting now. This comes as the developer also revealed a new expansion titled Songs of the Past, scheduled for release in 2027. This expansion is expected to be the final chapter for Geralt of Rivia.
The remastered Witcher 3 will include numerous enhancements, such as improved combat, UI updates, graphical upgrades, and an expanded photo mode. The game will also launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Battle.net simultaneously. While Songs of the Past is planned for 2027, the exact release platforms are still subject to change, with current information pointing to PC and Xbox Series.
