Summary

- A 17th-century witch board causes flashbacks for the main character.
- The film features a bizarre scene with a CGI Maine Coon cat.

Jamie Campbell Bower, acclaimed for his role as Vecna in "Stranger Things," lends his captivating presence to the supernatural thriller "Witchboard." He plays Alexander Babtiste, a creepy antiquities expert whose sinister charm and imposing screen presence prevent the remake from devolving into pure camp.
However, the film struggles when Bower is not on screen. It then shifts focus to a group of young adults who are enthralled by a 17th-century French witch's spirit, summoned via a proto-Ouija board discovered in New Orleans. The narrative features a main character experiencing vivid flashbacks.
Despite its low-budget feel and questionable special effects, such as a chaotic CGI-rendered cat attack, "Witchboard" offers moments of unintended hilarity. The inclusion of French dialogue in the flashbacks and culinary scenes inspired by "The Bear" provide glimmers of authenticity.
