Actors Dominic West and Clarke Peters, known for their roles in HBO's "The Wire," have traveled through Kyrgyzstan on horseback for a new documentary titled "Beyond The Silk Road." This project, produced by Blink Films, will also be released as a two-part series. The stars, who bonded over horsemanship during "The Wire" filming, reconnected with their passion in the rugged landscapes of Kyrgyzstan.
The documentary follows their expedition along a segment of the ancient Silk Road, a vital network of trade routes where Kyrgyzstan served as a crucial crossroads. They experienced life in yurts and participated in age-old traditions, guided by Alexandra Tolstoy, an expert in the region. West described the journey as an adventure of a lifetime, recalling challenging mountain passes and his own "questionable equine skills."
Peters echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the profound experience of connecting with an ancient way of life and the Kyrgyz people. The film aims to showcase areas of Kyrgyzstan that remain untouched by modernity and communities deeply connected to horses. Blink Films is producing the documentary, with Sean McDonnell directing and Claire Bugden producing, positioning it as a key offering at the upcoming London TV Screenings, where Blue Ant Rights will handle global sales.
