Winnipeg's winter landscape is enhanced by seven newly unveiled warming huts, situated along the Nestaweya River Trail at The Forks. These artistic structures were selected from a global pool of more than 200 submissions, promising to enchant visitors as they skate, walk, or bike the Red and Assiniboine rivers. The public can witness these huts being constructed and meet their designers over the coming week.

Among the winning designs is 'Moon Rabbit,' inspired by ancient Chinese mythology. Another notable creation is 'Continuum,' a 30-meter passageway of snow arches at the confluence of the two rivers. Local talent is also showcased, with a heart-shaped hut by Travel Manitoba and a book-shaped structure incorporating a free library, designed by Grade 7 students from Bison Run School. University of Manitoba architecture students also contributed a scaffolding-based design framing historic landmarks.
