The animated feature by Spanish directors Beñat Beitia and Elio Quiroga will compete in the festival's Contrechamp Competition.
It recounts the harrowing journey of Julia, a seven-year-old girl fleeing the Spanish Civil War in 1939. Her odyssey through French refugee camps and aboard the SS Winnipeg, a ship chartered by Pablo Neruda, brought 2,400 Spanish refugees to Chile.
Narrated by an elderly Julia, the film reflects on her childhood voyage and the enduring impact of historical survival. The project is inspired by Laura Martel's graphic novel and features a soundtrack by Diego Navarro. Produced by Spanish, Chilean, and Argentinian companies, it boasts a cast of acclaimed Chilean actors.
