Father-Daughter Duo Beat Stage 4 Cancer Together

Actor William Shatner and his daughter, Melanie Shatner Gretsch, revealed they endured concurrent battles with stage 4 cancer. Gretsch, 61, was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2022 after discovering a lump. Approximately a year later, in June 2023, Shatner received his own diagnosis of stage 4 melanoma, which had spread to his lungs and brain.

Gretsch underwent extensive treatment, including multiple rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and 30 radiation therapy sessions. During this time, Shatner discovered a lump in his cheek, which was identified as a tumor. He underwent surgery and two years of immunotherapy. Both Shatner and Gretsch have now completed their treatments and are declared cancer-free.
