In 2018, Kenna (Maika Monroe) met Scotty (Rudy Pankow) and the two kindled a relationship over his purchases of single plastic yellow plates. However, after a lovely outing, Kenna made an unbearable mistake that sent her to prison for 7 years.
Now, in October 2025, Kenna has been released from prison and has returned to her Wyoming hometown, hoping to start over and meet her daughter Diem, whom she doesn't know well. Diem's custodial grandparents, Grace and Patrick (Lauren Graham and Bradley Whitford), adamantly refuse Kenna's attempts to see her daughter.
But Kenna discovers unexpected compassion, and then something truer and deeper, with former NFL player and local bar owner Ledger (Tyriq Withers). As their secret romance develops, so do the dangers for both Kenna and Ledger. Kenna risks heartbreak and the hope for a second chance as she navigates the challenges of reconnecting with her daughter.
