In a recent development, Netflix has announced the greenlight of a new high school hockey drama series. The untitled, eight-episode show is set in the working-class town of South Dorothy, Minnesota, where the local high school hockey team has been a powerhouse for decades under the legendary Coach "Sully" Sullivan.
Tragically, a bus crash last month killed Sully and several of his players. This devastating incident has left the town reeling, and they now turn to Sully's widow, Harper Sullivan (played by Michelle Monaghan), to coach the new team of broken young men.
What unfolds is described as a "hopeful and unforgettable story of an underdog team who comes together to galvanize their town, reclaim their way of life, and turn their shared grief into an unstoppable superpower." The series is created by Nick Naveda and will be showrun by Bridget Bedard, with Shawn Levy and Trey Edward Shults serving as executive producers.
