- A script for the final film was found in an old archive.

The iconic folk horror film "The Wicker Man," originally envisioned as a trilogy by director Robin Hardy, has finally seen its conclusion. Hardy's sons, Justin and Dominic, unearthed a script for the third installment, titled "Wrath of the Gods," from a long-lost family archive, fulfilling their father's ambition years after his passing in 2016.
The discovery of scripts and other materials, initially found in the attic of a former family home, provided the crucial missing piece. This archive also shed light on the original film's troubled production in the early 1970s, a period of crisis for the British film industry.
"Wrath of the Gods," filmed in Shetland in spring 2025, features actors Francis Magee and Christiane Schaldemose, alongside a cast of local talent. The film's completion has been a significant endeavor for the Hardy family, though overshadowed by the recent death of Justin Hardy at 61.
The final film serves as a poignant tribute, dedicated to Justin's mother, Caroline, an uncredited executive producer on the original 1973 film, and to Justin himself. Its premiere is set for Friday at the horror festival FrightFest in London, promising a mixture of celebration and remembrance.
