Wicked TV Premiere Precedes Blockbuster Film Release
23 Oct
Summary
- NBC to air Wicked TV premiere on Nov. 19, 2 days before film release
- 3.5-hour broadcast with commercials, starting at 8 PM ET
- Network also airing 2-hour Wicked musical special on Nov. 6

In a major promotional push for the upcoming Wicked film, NBC has announced the television premiere of the hit musical will air on November 19, 2025, just two days before the movie's theatrical release. The 3.5-hour broadcast, complete with commercials, will start at 8 PM ET, giving viewers a chance to experience the full stage production before the highly anticipated film hits the big screen.
Ahead of the Wicked TV premiere, NBC is also set to air a 2-hour musical special titled "Wicked: One Wonderful Night" on November 6. The special will feature performances from the film's cast, including Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Marissa Bode, along with behind-the-scenes glimpses and interviews.
The network's decision to air the Wicked TV premiere is part of a larger promotional strategy leading up to the film's release from Universal Pictures, a corporate sibling of NBC. While the musical was previously available exclusively on Peacock, the streaming service will not be part of the Wicked blitz, as the film is now streaming on Prime Video.
