Summary
- Ariana Grande attacked by fan on Singapore red carpet
- Cynthia Erivo intervened to protect Grande
- Cast bonded over "coming through some shit" during filming

On November 4, 2025, the highly anticipated Wicked: For Good musical film premiered in Singapore, but the event was marred by a frightening incident. As the stars, including Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, walked the yellow carpet, a self-described "troll" named Johnson Wen jumped the barricade and rushed towards Grande, throwing his arm around her and jumping up and down.
Erivo, who plays Elphaba to Grande's Glinda, was the first to intervene, yelling at Wen to release Grande and physically attempting to separate the two. Their castmate Michelle Yeoh was eventually able to pull Grande to safety as security apprehended Wen.
In the aftermath, Erivo spoke about the incident, saying that despite the "shit" they've had to deal with, the Wicked film has allowed the cast to grow closer as friends, sisters, and artists. Grande, visibly emotional, nodded in agreement as Erivo praised the special bond they've formed.
Wen, who has a history of similar stunts with other celebrities, was charged with being a public nuisance and faces a fine of up to S$2,000 (over $1,500) if found guilty. Grande, who survived a terrorist attack at a Manchester concert in 2017, has not yet commented on the latest incident.
The Wicked film, a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, is set to premiere in theaters on November 21, 2025, after earlier premieres in Brazil, Paris, and London.
