Wicked Movie Saga Concludes with Highly Anticipated Two-Part Finale

After almost a year of anticipation, the 2025 movie release of Wicked: For Good will finally complete Elphaba and Glinda's journey. Director Jon M. Chu, who is helming the Wicked film adaptation, revealed that he initially disliked the original single-movie script, finding it challenging to do justice to the layered and emotional Tony-winning musical.

Chu decided to split Wicked into two parts, allowing audiences to experience the full depth of the two witches' friendship, Emerald City's complexities, and the musical's core songs without sacrificing any of the magic. One of the new songs, "The Girl in the Bubble," is expected to provide fans with more insight into Glinda's inner turmoil as she navigates her high position in the Emerald City while serving under its crooked government.

The decision to split the final movie into two parts was not an easy one, as Chu acknowledged it was "already a debate" at Universal for years. However, the director believed it was necessary to stay true to the beloved Broadway musical and ensure nothing was cut out, including the iconic "Defying Gravity" number.

Wicked: For Good is set to soar into theaters on November 21st, 2025, promising to deliver a satisfying conclusion to the magical story that has captivated audiences worldwide.
