As of November 13th, 2025, the upcoming film Wicked: For Good is shaping up to be a major box office event. The Jon M. Chu-directed sequel to the 2013 hit Wicked has already set a new record on Fandango as the best-selling PG-rated movie in the ticket retailer's history.
In addition to this impressive pre-sale milestone, Wicked: For Good is also the top advance ticket seller of 2025 so far. The film's pre-sales have surpassed those of previous PG-rated blockbusters like 2017's Beauty and the Beast and last year's Frozen 2, which had $174.7M and $130.2M in pre-sales, respectively, at the same point in the sales cycle.
With such strong early demand, industry sources believe the initial box office forecast for Wicked: For Good, which was pegged at $112M-$115M+, could be significantly higher. If the sequel matches or exceeds the $112.5M opening of the first Wicked film, it would challenge the current record for the biggest PG opening ever, which belongs to 2019's The Lion King with $191.7M.
"With fans shattering records on Fandango when tickets first went on sale for Wicked: For Good, it was clear that this electrifying finale to the worldwide sensation would soar to the same heights as the first film," said Jerramy Hainline, EVP of Fandango. Audiences are in for a true cinematic event as they return to Oz, experiencing it on the biggest screen possible as it was meant to be seen.
