Wicked: For Good Breaks Pre-Sale Records, Aims for Blockbuster Debut
13 Nov
Summary
- Wicked: For Good sets new Fandango record for best-selling PG-rated film
- Sequel surpasses advance ticket sales of Beauty and the Beast, Frozen 2
- Projected to open with $112M-$115M+, potentially challenging The Lion King's PG record

As of November 13th, 2025, the upcoming film Wicked: For Good is shaping up to be a major box office event. The Jon M. Chu-directed sequel to the 2013 hit Wicked has already set a new record on Fandango as the best-selling PG-rated movie in the ticket retailer's history.
In addition to this impressive pre-sale milestone, Wicked: For Good is also the top advance ticket seller of 2025 so far. The film's pre-sales have surpassed those of previous PG-rated blockbusters like 2017's Beauty and the Beast and last year's Frozen 2, which had $174.7M and $130.2M in pre-sales, respectively, at the same point in the sales cycle.
With such strong early demand, industry sources believe the initial box office forecast for Wicked: For Good, which was pegged at $112M-$115M+, could be significantly higher. If the sequel matches or exceeds the $112.5M opening of the first Wicked film, it would challenge the current record for the biggest PG opening ever, which belongs to 2019's The Lion King with $191.7M.
